Sailors' Art (page 2)
This bell pull was made by Eric Ruff's father who was a seaman.

Left: this belaying pin is decorated with rope to give it a good grip so it
could be used as a club.
Center: a sailor has tied knots and put the rope through to make a handle for
his sea chest.
Right: this is a bell pull made of knotted rope used to ring the bell that was used
to tell the time.
This is a sailor's bag. The sailor decorated it with knots. He would put his belongings inside it.
